Decision Tree: FID Flameout (If FID Installed)
Symptom: flame out alarm, ignition fails, unstable FID signal.
Safety: Follow site rules for hydrogen/fuel gas. Verify leak-free before ignition attempts.
Step-by-step isolation
1) Verify fuel gas and air supply pressures/flows are correct and stable (no regulator hunting).
2) Confirm ignition sequence: igniter working, wiring seated, controller not inhibiting ignition due to interlock.
3) Check for contamination:
- Dirty jet/nozzle causes unstable flame.
- Moisture or oil in gas lines can cause flameout.
4) Inspect for leaks and venting: ensure exhaust path is clear and properly routed.
5) Validate with stable standard run: if flame holds but signal unstable → check electrometer/grounding.
6) Corrective actions:
- Stabilize fuel/air regulators; replace clogged filters.
- Clean/replace FID jet as per manual.
- Verify detector electronics and grounding.
