Decision Tree: Oven / Temperature

← Back to Alarms Hub Alarm Codes → Chromatogram Guide
Goal: Stabilize oven temperature at setpoint (no oscillation) before judging repeatability or retention-time shifts.
1) Confirm the alarm type: “Oven Not Ready”, “Heater Fault”, or “Temperature Deviation”. Note the timestamp.
2) Compare Setpoint vs Actual. If Actual is far below setpoint, suspect heater or power path issues.
3) Check airflow and ventilation: blocked vents, fan failure, or cabinet overheating.
4) If temperature hunts (up/down): check sensor integrity, loose connections, and controller tuning (if accessible).
5) After fixing, allow stabilization, then run 2–3 cycles and confirm stable retention time.

Quick Symptoms → Likely Cause

Oven never reaches setpoint: heater or power fault, relay issue, blown fuse, or excessive airflow.

Oven overshoots and hunts: temperature sensor issue, loose wiring, or control instability.

Retention time shift: oven instability or carrier pressure hunting (check both).
